Shadow of Temple Emanu-El, 1994.
Destroyed in the 1920's, the Temple Emanu-El was located in New York City on the northeast corner of 35th St. & Fifth Ave., two blocks away from the site of Haas' proposal.
The print serves as a reminder of the many major New York landmarks that have fallen victim to development. The two-part print depicts the a rendition of the original temple on the left, while on the right is a two-color, two-plate line etching with aquatint image of the shadow of the temple projected on the building which now occupies its one-time space. Printed on Arches Cover White.
