Fine Ewe cotton man’s cloth, circa 1920-50. Here the weaver uses a pleasing red, pale green, yellow warp striped background to unify a cloth that has very varied colour choices in the pairs of weft faced blocks. Each pair of blocks frames a simple weft faced stripe motif but the weaver plays with variation in these stripes, in places using a single wider stripe or a more complex pattern. In between the pairs of weft blocks the weaver adds pairs of mainly geometric supplementary weft float motifs. Condition is excellent.
